Tamper Protection Password

I have the free home edition of Sophos version 9.4.3. I want to change my preferences but it keeps asking me for a tamper proteciton password that I never set up. I can't change anything without it and Sophos is blocking important business related websites. I work in the alcohol distribution industry and I think it believes that I am going somewhere worse. How do I figure out what the tamper protection password is? Why do I even have one?! I never set it up.. What can I do to fix this?

Hello William Charobnnet,

is this indeed the legacy Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition - the release notes have 9.4.2 as latest but might not be up-to-date as the product has been upgraded to Sophos Home? Furthermore according to the Tamper Protection FAQs there shouldn't be TP on the home versions. Could you perhaps post screenshots of the version info (About= and the prompt you get?

I had this issue too, I used terminal to remove it.

Had this issue this morning.

If you log in to Sophos Central (I went through the link in the initial activation email).

Go to devices tab on the left

Turn OFF tamper protection

It will then let you do what ever you need to.
