'Threat detected by Sophos Anti-Virus' continously popping up

I've been using Home Edition for Mac for a couple of years without problem but recently I an issue started where the 'Threat detected by Sophos Anti-Virus' alert is continuosly popping up every 5 minutes.

This continues to occur even despite me clearing the list of threats in the Quarantine Manager.  None of the threats are new and are files I am aware of and would like to ignore.

This is obviously extremely distracting and frustrating. Is this a bug that's been introduced in a recent version?

I can't really see an alternative way of solving this except by installing an alternative product.

  • This was very annoying for me also, so...

I went into Preferences and then under Messaging I disabled "Disable desktop alert when an item is detected on access" and "Warn before cleaning up items in Quarantine Manager".

Also if you have a time machine backup going on it may duplicate the process, giving you alerts over and over. Best to disable the above, and just let Sophos do it's thing.

    Hopefully this works for you.
