On-access scanning causing problems with legacy Filevault

Ok so at some point I found out how to enable legacy filevault on my mac for my primary account and did so. Eventually (not immediately) I started having problems logging in with the screen freezing to the point that I reinstalled mac. Last week I finally got around to reinstalling Sophos and I started having the freezing again upon my next log in and every one since then unless I log into my admin account and disable on access scanning. Then I can log in without any problems and re-enable scanning. Googling this I found old threads on this issue going back to Lion. The only solution I found was to run this command on the terminal.

defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.sophos.sav WorkerThreads -int 20

Afterwards I copied that plist to my desktop and opened it to find that value there as follows:

    <key>WorkerThreads</key>
    <integer>20</integer>

Unfortunately this hasn't worked and I still have to disable on access scanning to log in. This is a real pain so I've come here hoping that someone has answers.

Mac OS X 10.10.5

Sophos home version 9.4.2.
