Manual clean up using home edition with Mac OS 10.11.3

Hi I have an iMac running OS 10.11.3 and have discovered the totiteck and genieo adware on my system when I scanned using the Home (free) edition of SAV. However after running quarantine manager it states that Automatic cleanup was not successful, manual cleanup is required. Not sure what to do now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • I have the same issue with Genieos adware. I saw the answer but still do not understand how to find the the option in quarenteen manager to locate the file and delete it. It says there is an option in Finder but I do not know where or how.

Can anyone explain a bit more clear how to manually get rid of Geneios?

  • I endorse Douglas Fulton's post in that I cannot find the option in quarantine manager to locate the file and delete it. Please explain how to do this.

  • You say there is an option in Quarantine manager but the two previous posters, and now myself, cannot find the option to clean up this adware manually and it is five + weeks since the first post about the cleanup. I am running Sophos 9.4.2.

Regardless of who is responsible for what, how does one remove this cursed adware? I had to run Sophos for two days to get my HD and detachable drive scanned and here I am apparently unable to remove the problem!

P.S. Does Sophos go to sleep when the computer does? The first night I left it running, it seemed to have frozen and got nowhere before I arrived back at work in the morning. Thanks in advance for help.
