Why do I now have TWO Sophos icons in my MacBook Pro menu bar?

Are you running with both an admin and a user account?  There was a report of this happening to someone with that situation who had been experiencing a missing icon in the menu bar after upgrading to Mountain Lion.

What OS version are you currently running?  What version number is reported from Sophos?

I have the same thing two icons on my menu bar, I have mountain lion on my macbook.  How can I fix it?

Check to see if you have two SophosUI login items installed.  If you do, remove one.  If it comes back, remove the other one.

Found it but there is only one there

Hmm... one of them may be a leftover from the update process then.  Do you still have two if you log out and log back in (a total restart shouldn't be needed)?

Yes I did delet sophos then reinstall it, that fixed it, then there was an update and that brought the two sheids back. So I figure it has something to do with the sophos update.  Any chances of an fix for the update?

and shutting down and restart doesn't work

Please inform of any updates coming to fix the problem,  for now I guess I will pretend that I'm getting twice the protection

Hi Manny,

Can you check to see if you have a "login item" for the Sophos UI Server? Look in the System Preferences, Users & Groups, Login Items. You shouldn't have one when using OS X 10.8 (or 10.7, but you should have one for 10.4-10.6).

If you have one, delete it. Log out, log in again. Should have a single shield.
