Automatic Virus Protection is Off with El Cap 10.11.4

I just updated to OS X 10.11.4 today and was running the old version of Sophos for Mac.  It told me that it couldn't start the On Demand Scanner.  I then found that there is a new Sophos Home and installed that.

I'm still having the same issue.  It tells me that "Automatic Virus Protection is Off" even though the dashboard shows it as on.

I'm guessing this might be an issue with the latest El Capitan...  Anyone from Sophos wanna make a comment?

  • I see the solution of turning off SIP and agree it will probably fix this issue temporarily. What is your opinion on whether or not Sophos will find a workaround, though? I'm weighing the benefits of having Sophos being able to scan on demand over turning off SIP.

    Thanls!

SIP is important to keep activated whenever possible. But Mac users have been getting by without it for years. In my opinion, Sophos protection is more important and more immediate. I have no doubt Sophos will identify and solve the issue though it may be a problem rather than a new feature with the Beta. In any case, it's likely that any new Beta will turn SIP back on so if On Access Scanning suddenly stops working after an OS update, that's the first place I'd look.
