SAV 9 Web Protection feature also blocks "*.local" Bonjour addresses

I realised this fact after a long troubleshooting procedure: in SAV 9.0.3 (and both on OS X 10.8.5 and 10.9 GM), the Web Protection feature also improperly blocks "*.local" Bonjour addresses; and in order to regain acces to "*.local" domains (typically, other Macs and especially configuration webpages for printers, TV tuners, etc.), it is necessary to turn off both the access and the download blocking for malicious websites in the Web Protection pane of the Sophos Anti-Virus preferences.

Why are local addresses blocked, thus? It shouldn't certainly be so! And adding, e.g., "officejet6310.local" or "officejet6310.local." (without the quotes; it is the configuration webpage of one of my printers...) to the allowed websites doesn't change anything: Safari still hangs at loading the page; it loads the page only with Web Protection completely deactivated.

This only seems to occur in Safari; Firefox loads local pages also with the Web Protection enabled. It also looks like the Web Protection slows everything down, on the general website loading and downloading front; anyway, Safari and Mail seem to be faster when it is disabled.

How can we solve this problem, now or in a future update? :smileyhappy:

Well, I have the exact same issue with Sophos Home running on OS X El Capitan. ".local" address fail to resolve. The browser keeps trying to load the page. Disabling Web Protection resolves the issue.
