New Sophos Home no icon

This is rather complicated

  1. This morning I discovered a pop up telling me my Sophos (old free Home Edition for Mac) was not running and neither was auto updater or on-access scanner. I could not turn them on in preferences and have no idea why. I DID download OS X 10.11.2 yesterday.
  2. So I deleted the app (using the uninstall Sophos tool) and tried to re-download. But the download page wasn't recognizing my email and password.
  3. I decided to open a new account and then was able to download and install the app, but it turns out to be the new "Sophos Home" for Mac. Now that it's installed I find there is no app preferences, no menu bar icon, no updater and no button to show log files. What gives???!!! I much preferred the old version.
  4. Finally, I ran a scan after the install and although it's almost finished, it's been running for almost 4 hours! And seems to be hang on certain files for a very long time ( I don't know what files). And my fans are now running at full speed almost all the time (Macbook Pro - Early 2011 - 17" with 2.3 Ghz I7 CPU, 8 GB RAM 500 GB SSD).

Please Help!!!
