I only installed Sophos AV once.

  • Getting that warning happens when the installer detects a clean install (the manifest.spec is not present in the installation), and either sav-protect init file is present, or /usr/local/bin/savscan exists.

    That suggests your install has got corrupted I think, deleting the manifest.spec from the installation.
