Having to wait for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS is a highly undesirable option !

you did try with Talpa from the distribution, not the github Talpa?Can't say if the latter works or is supposed to work with kernel 5.3.0, DouglasLeeder probably can tell.

I'm afraid Kernel 5.0 was the last one we've added Talpa support for.
We'll probably have to add 5.3 support once Ubuntu 18.04 has 5.3 as update kernel.
We have now released a version of Talpa that works on kernels 5.1 - 5.4.
You'll need to have an updating SAV install to get it (The install tar file isn't updated).
