Cannot get Linux savscan to recognize directory that has a space as first character

I just installed Free Linux Sophos version 9 in Mint 18.3 but cannot get savscan to recognize and scan my main directory in "home" because come to find out that directory name evidently starts with a space and I am new to Linux and don't know how work around it to fix it. I don't want to trash the system by changing stuff without knowing exactly how to proceed. Thanks

  • Hello Tee Johnson,

the usual syntax applies: To scan a directory with special characters quote/escape its name (or cd to it but the same rules apply in this case). Say you have a directory named  StartsWithBlank the command is me@MyLinux:~$ savscan " StartsWithBlank" or me@MyLinux:~$ savscan \ StartsWithBlank. Or you me@MyLinux:~$ cd " StartsWithBlank" and then me@MyLinux:~/ StartsWithBlank$ savscan ..
