Removal tool still leaves Sophos kernel extensions (kexts) running?

I've had multiple Kernel panics in El Capitan, so in order to eliminate Sophos as an issue, I've temporarily removed it.

I ran the removal tool, and it appeared to complete correctly. But the panics continue.

Interestingly, on the panic report, Sophos is still listed (it's the top of the list, actually), even though it's been removed. Why is it still loading?

1.0.1 (addr 0xffffff7f8cbaa000, size 28672)

loaded kexts:

com.sophos.kext.sav 9.4.50

com.sophos.nke.swi

Can anyone explain why this is, and if so, How can I remove the kexts?

I've tried using the sudo kextunload tool, and it reports that the sophos kexts are not loaded, but according to the report, they are.
