Email alerts to localhost

Question

Hi, 
I am trying to configure the mail alerts for sophos av for linux but i'm getting the following error in the log: 
10:12:14 (17838): Examining 2015-10-27.14-16-39.o3zs8f (on 17838) 
10:12:14 (17838): Retrying 2015-10-27.14-16-39.o3zs8f (on 17838) 
10:12:14 (17838): Emailing root@localhost via localhost 
10:12:14 (17838): Socket error while attempting to send email to port 25 of server localhost 
 
Could you please suggest a solution?

Hello adil, 
 if you indeed want to send to root@localhost a mail server you have to set up a mail server on this machine (e.g. postfix). Looks like you haven't actually configured the email alerts though, these seem to be the defaults. Please see the Configuration Guide , chapter 13.3.
