How to get back the files that I manually deleted after running Sophos anti-virus scan?

Hello. How can I get back the files that I manually deleted after running Sophos anti-virus scan? The thing is I never checked any of the files, just deleted them all on monday (so the 3 threats are gone from my mac), but now I noticed that all my Notes files are gone as well... I bet most of the files I deleted were fine :( Can someone help?

I have not used TimeMachine or anything to back my files up...

    Hi Anne,

    Really sorry to hear you're having trouble with this. I'm guessing you've already checked your Trash to see if the files are still there?

    Unfortunately once you've emptied the trash, and if you're not using Time Machine, it's not that easy to get deleted files back. There are some third party apps you can try to use, but I honestly don't have experience with any of these so I'm not sure which would be the best to recommend.
