Why would anti-virus v.9.4.0 install a new user account, what is it there for, and how can I access it if I even should?

I installed the anti-virus program v. 9.4.0 on my macbook air. It seems to work fine. When I shut down my system and restarted there appeared a new user login called "Sophos End Point" asking for a password to open it. Why would the program install a new user account, what is it there for, and how can I access it if I even should?

This new user shouldn't appear in the Users & Groups system preferences, but it is available in the directory services (we create it as a local user). You shouldn't really get prompted for access to that account unless you are trying to login using it (we have marked it as not allowing login by the way).
