Home Edition 9.6.6 versus Sophos Home 2.0.4

Hello...

I am a very happy user of "Sophos Anti-Virus Home Edition 9.6.6" - to give it its' full title - currently running on OS X El Capitan (version 10.11.6)

I now wish to add similar protection for an additional device (MacBook Pro)...

I have experienced no need to visit the Community fora for five years, but things appear to have moved on (for one thing, SophosFreeTalk has been replaced by this web site(!) and my user name had to be 're-newed/changed') which has left me confused.

Because googling and searching this forum has not answered my questions surrounding Home Edition 9.6.6 and Sophos Home 2.0.4 - I would like to ask what is the difference between them, please?  Has Sophos Anti-Virus Home Edition simply been replaced with Sophos Home?   Does anyone know approximately when that happened...?

If I now download Sophos Home (latest version) will it automatically replace my Home Edition?   Some clarification would help...

Thanks!

  • Hello ,

please see this Blog entry. It should answer some of your questions. The Home Beta started in Q4 2015.
Home is managed with the cloud console 3 devices with the basic free version).

If (after some more reading [;)] ) you want to replace your 9.6 with the Home version I'd suggest you uninstall first.

  • Thank you very much, Christian:-)

The information did answer my queries, and after uninstalling Home Edition I downloaded the Home version and scanned my system.  I then downloaded the Home version on my additional device and scanned that system, too.

    Altogether, a successful exercise:-)

    Cheers!
