MultiPlug disappears from Quarantine Manager

Hi there, yesterday the MultiPlug PUA was found by sophos AV 9.4 for Mac on my OS X.10 MacBook Pro (from 2012).

Auto cleanup failed but, before I could do manual cleanup, the infected files disappeared from Quarantine Manager.

Subsequent full scans (even using other programs), and manual scans based on file path information (preserved in Console), failed to find the infected files.

I'm still experiencing some odd adware behaviour in Safari, which has occurred from time to time in the past. Though I run a full sophos AV scan once a week, this is the first time I've encountered this result.

Any idea on what happened, and what I should do?
