Problem with Home Edition 9.4.0 update.

Home Edition update installed September 24.  Until now a scan took approximately 45 minutes.  Now the scan slows to a crawl with approx 25000 remaining files.  It appears to repeatedly scan certain files.  The remaining files counter still counts down however to complete the scan will take five or more hours.  I now cancel the scan when it reaches that point.  Sophos also crashes at startup but appears to work fine after that.  Never had a problem with Sophos until the update.

I am using an iMac w/10.10.5.

  • I am having the same issue. A scan of my mac that used to complete in under an hour is now about 35% complete after 6 hours. I have had to disable my scheduled scans and am now unprotected. OS X 10.10.5. It would be very helpful if there were a way to downgrade to the previous version until this issue is fixed.
  • You have on-access scan, you are not unprotected.
Has a Scheduled Scan found anything that On-Access didn't?
  • I am having similar problems. A scan that used to take a couple of hours ran almost 24 hours. When it was done I got a "Sophos Anti-Virus Error" and it appears I am not protected. I am running the same Mac 10.10.5.  My problem is similar to Plshibashi.
