two user Policy files using the same certificate - How is the selection made by LAN Crypt Client

Hi Folks,

I'm pretty new in using Safeguard LAN Crypt, and my question may be trivial for some of you, but this cause me headache since last Friday. Here the situation:

How does Lan Crypt going to select a user's policy file if two of them are using the same user certificate and the profile are named differently?

The idea behind: We are in a domain migration phase and we are providing certificate from the new domain to users. That new certificate can be use to build Profile for both user Account (Old+New domain). Whether the user is logging in with their old or new Account, how does Lan Crypt select the right user profile from the Folder for loading policy?

Here a example:

- User "XY" has following login ID in old domain: domain1\xy01

- User "XY" has following login ID in new domain: domain2\ab01

- User "XY" has one encryption Certificate

We built two user Profiles in LAN crypt for old and new domain Account with XY's certificate

Question again: How does LAN Crypt is selecting the right profile?

According to my tests, it looks like LAN Crypt is not looking for the logged-in user.

Thanks for any help and I hope some one can understand my issue.

Regards,

Joel

  • The sole criterion is the user name of the logged in user. In this example, the user will load the profile XY01 if he is logged on with the old domain ID and AB01 in the new domain.
If you build the profile for a user in SGLC Admin this will created a profile called e.g xy01.xml or xy01.xml.bz2. After login to windows, Safe Guard LAN Crypt Client 3.90 will search the location for the profile and load the profile for that user e.g if you are logged in to windows as domain1\xy01 loadprfo.exe will search for xyo1.xml and if any profile find with that name the profile will be loaded.
