OpalMode

Does anyone know the options for using the "OPALMODE" command line optioin?  I can't seem to find it in any SafeGuard documentation.  I want to be able to force software-based encryption and prevent OPAL from locking the drive when it is encrypted.

thanks,

  • Hi Andrew,

if you want to make sure that the SafeGuard Client is using software based encryption even if an OPAL compliant hdd will be detected, use the command line parameter OPALMODE=2  (0 = default / 2 = SUPPRESS OPAL MODE) during the installation of the SafeGuard Client.

    Example: msiexec /i sgnclient.msi OPALMODE=2    .

A note on SafeGuard Enterprise 7: "Since version 7 of SafeGuard Enterprise / Easy no Opal checks are performed by default.

This means that, although an Opal drive is present, SafeGuard Enterprise will encrypt volumes on this drive via software-based encryption."
