SafeGuard 6.1 over Enterprise Console

Hi,

will Safeguard 6.1 Full Disc Encryption also appear in the Update Manager of the Current Enterprise Console for rollout/updating?

For testing purposes, I manually updated a 5.61 client to 6.1, but I don´t want to update them all by myself.

    SafeGuard Enterprise 6.1 clients are not supported by the Enterprise Console. Do not upgrade 5.61 clients managed by the Enterprise Console to any other version. You might get unwanted side-effects.

    However, the client upgrade has been allowed as SEC managed 5.61 clients can be migrated to a full SafeGuard Enterprise backend. Please see details in SafeGuard Enterprise upgrade guide.

    In such a case deployment to the clients need to be managed by standard deployment mechanisms and cannot be performed by SUM.

    Maybe I didn´t described it correctly. We currently have the "Sophos Complete Security Suite" License and are using it for Endpoint Protection and Full Disk Encryption for Notebooks. In the Sophos Enterprise Console Update Manager, I still get only 5.61 of the Full Disk Encryption (see picture). Will it also be updated to 6.1 as we are in need of encrypting Windows 8 devices?

    That was my understanding.

    The encryption client in the Sophos Enterprise Console Update Manager will not be updated. It will stay on version 5.61. 

    If you require Windows 8 encryption you can migrate to SafeGuard Easy or SafeGuard Enterprise Console to manage these clients.

    With Safeguard Easy you cannot push out encryption as you could with the enterprise management console. What is Sophos's recommendation for pushing out the 6.1 client if you can't use the enterprise console?

    This is correct. Sophos recommends to use whatever you use to push out other software like Microsoft Office, etc. You could use group policies within the Active Directory or third party deployment software.

    Will there ever be an update to Safeguard Enterprise 6.1 for those using the Enterprise Console? We would like to continue using the Enterprise Console, but can only manually download the Safeguard Easy client with our license (Sophos Data Protection Suite). And we don't want to use Safeguard Easy.

    Do we just have to wait for the update or do we have to migrate to Safeguard Easy and migrate to the Safeguard Management Center?
