checkdisk on system partition not working, after uninstall of sophos

Hi,

System:

Lenovo T400s

128GB SSD Toshiba HDD

Windows 7

Safeguard Enterprise 6.00.1.31 with volume encryption

since yesterday, I´ve a really spooky symptom.

I had a Notebook which hangs sometimes, so I had a look onto it.

First step was an HDD test. Some bad blocks where found and the test stopped at 78GB tested.

So I already read that Sophos marks 96mb as bad for the kernel, but there were more errors.

So I decided to decrypt the SSD and uninstalled all Sophos packages.

After that I testes the HDD again and alle blocks where ok and it runs till the end.

The problem I now have, is that I can´t make and checkdisk from the system disk.

I only get an error that no exclusive access is possible at Windows 7 boot.

Could it be, that some Sophos parts weren´t removed, so that the system isn´t possible to access some parts of the HDD?

Is there an Sophos Safeguard Enterprise removal tool available?

Thanks

kind regards

Marcus

  • Hi,

I found no solution for this problem.

I´ve tried to install Sophos Safeguard Enterprise again and that worked, but sophos ignores the system partition and doesn´t encrypt it.

So I´ve decided to fresh install Windows and I hope Sophos wants to encrypt then.

    kind regards
