Windows-NT in Internet Explorer 11 authorisation with disabled Credential Providers

Hello.

About us:

Win 7 64 Pro

IE 11

Sophos Safeguard encryption 7

I have a problem with working of websites in Internet Explorer that use Windows NT authorisation.

When trying to log in, following login popup without fields (left - our problem, right - normal)  will appear:

I investigated, that problem reason is disabling of CredentialProviders (decribed here: http://sophos.com/kb/114190 )

As part of installation of Sophos, we activate a following REG-key: PasswordProvider{6f45dc1e-5384-457a-bc13-2cd81b0d28ed}

to disable non-sophos login points(two rights):

And in Knowledge Base I found following: To allow the authentication to a website in Internet Explorer 10, at least one additional Credential Provider besides the SafeGuard Credential Provider must be enabled

But after long discussing with Sophos Support team and long discovering in the WorldWideWeb I can't found any solution.

SophosSupport recommends me to deactivate REG-keys and works with unnormal logon screen (as in screenshot), but we are very big corporation and can't do this and go this way.

Further discussion with SophosSupport led to the result, that this topic is OS architecture and non-Sophos problem.

General question:

As was writed in knowledge base

least one additional Credential Provider besides the SafeGuard Credential Provider must be enabled

enabling one additional credential provider can solve the problem, so, which one?=)

Is there any ways to pass IE authorisation through WindowsNT-authorisation?

Here is link to check an authorisation: https://app.sgs.ru/ruauto/

Great thanks!

  • I too like yourself wanted to tidy up the login/Welcome screen and I also experimented with removing credential providers.

I too ran into side-effects of removing them though and decided that user education was the best way I'm afraid.

We have the Welcome screen with the Windows Cred providers AND the Sophos ones and simply educate our users to use the Sophos cred provider tile to log on with. Not the prettiest but it really is an aesthetic thing.

Sorry it's not the answer you wanted but we just live with it!
