colorful bar at login screen

Hello sophos community!

I just installed Safeguard 7.0.1 on a Dell Precision M4800 with Win7 64bit and 4k display. Latest gaphics card is installed. It shows some weird color bars at the top of the screen:

I think it has something to do with the 4k display? (?)

If you type in user/password it logs in and loads windows withouth further problems.

  • Hi Marc,

Please take a look at the following article.  http://sophos.com/kb/124683

How to switch the display resolution to VGA mode

POA (Power-on Authentication) hotkey SHIFT+F4 allows you to toggles the display resolution from VESA to VGA graphics mode, this resolves the issue.

Activate the hotkey mode at POA level during the computer's Power On Self Test and before Sophos SafeGuard is starting displays on the screen.

    Do the following:

    1. Start the computer.
    2. Before the Power On Self Test (POST) has finished, you must press and hold the left Shift key.
    3. When the message Shift key has been pressed. Waiting for Hotkey... displays, press the F4 hotkey.
You are required to do this within 5 seconds.

      Example:

      Sophos SafeGuard is starting.
      Please wait.....
Shift key has been pressed. Waiting for Hotkey...
      Toggle display resolution!

    Bill.
