Removing Demo Licences

I've seen the steps to remove the demo licences from machines, but problem I am running into is that we have a policy set in the management center that prevents users from uninstalling safeguard/decrypting unless their machine is in a specific usergroup. I've tried on multiple computers anyway and I get an error that says there is a policy blocking me from changing the setup. Now I can add them to the group, but seeing how our demo licences have expired and this is preventing policies from being pushed out I don't know how I'm going to be able to remove them the way you suggest. Is there a SQL command that I can run that will just remove any licence that's labeled as a demo, would that solve my issue or open an whole new can of worms?

  • Hello,

There is no SQL command to remove the licence that's labeled as Demo.   If policy deployment is disabled, you can get round this by adding the emended policy's you want on the client to a new policy group and then applying that policy group to a new client config.

The new client config MSI can then be manually installed on the offending machines. You will then be able to remove the unlicensed component from the endpoint.

Once the client has synchronized with the Safeguard, recount the licences and you will see the change reflected in the used license count.

This is also explained in http://sophos.com/kb/116358
