Encryption - Bitlocker - Bitlocker locked after 1 fail

Hi,

since verison 8.00.0.251, I´ve a lot of times the problem, that the bitlocker login is locked after 1 incorrect try.

I´ve found no setting in the Safeguard rule, so do I have to publish a group policy for bitlocker settings, too?

kind regards

  • Hi Melchor,

This would be controlled by a GPO yes.  You will also need to clear the TPM on the device in question.

  • Hi,

Ok. I´ll make the GPO for the tries.

My problem is, that there´s no more option in the Lenovo Thinkpad Bios to clear the tpm and if i try to delete or unlock the tpm under Windows 10 with tpm.msc its asking me for a recovery passwort, which i dont have.

Is that a known issue or a setting which I´ve never heard of?

    kind regards

  • When I have seen this before I had to clear the TPM with out the owner password.  This will lose all the keys stored with in it and you will have to reinitialize it afterwards.

Make sure you have your bitlocker recovery key to hand.  If the machine has any important user data on it I would also back this up first just in case.
