Failed to activate encryption, please verify if os x recovery is installed on your startup drive

Hi,

Getting this error message while installing Sophos Safeguard ver.7.02 for Mac on OSX EL Capitan, Please let me know how to fix this issue.

    Thank you for reaching out. Encryption on Mac operating systems uses FileVault2 and the recovery partition should be present in order for the FileVault2 encryption to start.

    If you would open the console and look at the system.log file, you would see a verbose logging similar to the example below.

    fdesetup enable failed 48120 188
    FDESETUP_LIST 256 1
    sgdEncryptWithFV2 failed 3

     

    So what you can do here is:

    You need to add an Apple OS X recovery partition first. Without the recovery partition, you will not be able to activate the FV2 encryption.

    To fix the issue, please use the Apple support portal and search for FV2 rebuild recovery partition. You can download a tool from Apple to create the missing partition without the need to reinstall the OS X.

    One other option could be that the customer has forget to enable the mobile user account around the OS X directory utility.
