Setting UP SGN 8 on new server

Hello,

I created a new server to install SGN 8. Our old server had SGN 6.10 installed an is running. We are trying to migrate to the new server (SGN 8). What is the easiest/ best way to copy/migrate over the certificates from SGN 6.10 to SGN 8?

Thank you.

    Hi Alexander,

Please see below, remember you must be logged in as an MSO to export these certificates:

    MSO Certificate

To back up the Master Security Officer certificate of the MSO logged on to the SafeGuard Management Center:

    1. In the SafeGuard Management Center menu bar, select Tools > Options.
    2. Select the Certificates tab and click Export in the Certificate of <administrator> section.
    3. You are prompted to enter a password for securing the exported file. Enter a password, confirm it and click OK.
    4. Enter a file name and storage location for the file to be exported and click OK.

The Master Security Officer certificate of the currently logged on MSO is exported as a .p12 file to the defined location and can be used for recovery purposes.

    Company Certificate

    1. In the SafeGuard Management Center menu bar, select Tools > Options.
    2. Select the Certificates tab and click Export in the Company Certificate section.
    3. You are prompted to enter a password for securing the exported file. Enter a password, confirm it and click OK.
    4. Enter a file name and storage location for the file and click OK.

The company certificate is exported as a .p12 file to the defined location and can be used for recovery purposes.

I trust that helps Alexander, any problems just let me know.

  • Thank you Toby for the reply. I backed up both the MSO Certificate and the Company Certificate. In the new server now, Im having the issue of the clients not communicating to the Management Console. I get a CCO error that the clients cannot connect to the Management Console with this CCO.

    Thank you for your help!

    Hello Alexander,

Did you move over the certificates for this new server?
Have you run an invoke test on the backend to make sure that's all working correctly? You can do this by going to IIS > Select the SGNSRV site > Click browse on port 80 > CheckConnection > Invoke > You should then get what looks like XML showing the status of the web service and picking up the database, if there are any errors they'll be displayed here.
