WebMail clients and attachments

I've run into a situation where I seem to be stuck and I don't think there is a way around it. I figured I'd ask just to be sure. We have some users on Macs that use the webmail client (O365) to send and receive email. We would like to enforce a policy where any file that is encrypted wouldn't be automatically decrypted before being attached and sent. I have added Safari and Firefox to the ignored application list and synchronized the policy, but each attachment is decrypted before going out. I think this is because the browser uses the system file selection box and that would need to remain as is or the users couldn't open their files on the system any more.  Did I miss some setting for this? Is there a way around this or would we be stuck with forcing our users to use a specific email client from now on?

(We are on SafeGuard Enterprise v8)

  • Incidentally, I attempted to set the built in OSX mail client (/Applications/Mail.app/Contents/MacOS/Mail) as an ignored application, but it also doesn't seem to work. I guess I'll need to ask, instead: How do I get a mail client to not automatically decrypt when attaching to an email? Looking at the process list, I see this "/System/Library/Frameworks/AppKit.framework/Versions/C/XPCServices/com.apple.appkit.xpc.openAndSavePanelService.xpc/Contents/MacOS/com.apple.appkit.xpc.openAndSavePanelService" and i think that is the dialog box that is showing. I have also attempted to Ignore this in the General Settings, but it still doesn't work. This might suggest there would be no way to do this. Any suggestions?
