After uninstalling SafeGuard Enterprise reinstalling it produces error 1603. How can I make the installation work again?

Hello,

as I installed more features than intended, I uninstalled SafeGuard Enterprise 8.0 on Windows 7 64-bit.

If first uninstalled the configuration package, then the actual client.

After that, I tried to installed both packages again (first client followed by configuration).

But sadly since then I get the error 1603 from MSI.

I also remove the preinstall package, too. But I still receive the same error.

Should I have done something differently when uninstalling it? Is there a way to fix it, so the Installation works again without reinstalling the whole system?

Kind regards,

Marco Lorenz

  • Interestingly this seems to be connected to the way our software delivery system extracts MSI Features.

In the documentation the combination "Client,CredentialProvider" is mentioned as being mandatory.

Our tool only added "Client" after selecting all required Features.

The Installation seems to work with that Parameter the first time, but after uninstalling and reinstalling SafeGuard it fails unless the Feature list is correctly supplied with "Client,CredentialProvider".
