Safegaurd 8 Synchronized Encryption revoke access

Hello,

We just started using Safeguard 8 and I have a quick question...When using Synchronized Encryption how do we revoke a single users access to unencrypt and/or open files? Since the synchronized encryption appears to only use the root_synchronized_encryption@SGN (with no way to change it) revoking keys is not an option...or am I incorrect?

Thanks,

Mark

    Hey Mark,

Good question. Application Encryption is designed to be used as a company wide setup, however, if you do want to exclude certain users you could either:

    • Not install Synchronized Encryption or File Encryption on the client machine for the user(s) in question
    • Remove that user's machine from the location where you'll be pushing out the File Encryption policy that contains the Application Encryption settings (that way the user will never get the Encryption Key to access those files)

If you're looking for a bit more control then just regular File Encryption would probably be the way to go for you, that way you can have different keys for different departments, users etc.

    Hope that helps!
