Upgrading SafeGuard from 7.0.00.97 to 8

Will clients running the older version still be managed by the upgraded server? How soon will need to upgrade these clients? We have a number of laptops at remote sites and may not be able to upgrade everything at once. Are there any other caveats with this upgrade I need to know?

  • Hi DonCouse,

SafeGuard server back-end is backwards compatible to SafeGuard 6.0, so any clients between 6.0 to 8.0 will be supported by a 8.0 SafeGuard back-end.

SafeGuard 7.0 Enterprise will have maintenance stop September 2018, and support will stop September 2019, but up to date information for SafeGuard is available here on product life cycle.

My only recommendation is that you backup the SafeGuard database prior to the upgrade, and if the SafeGuard server is a virtual machine, you take a snapshot of the OS.
