Installing Database via SafeGuard Management Centre Wizard

Hi

I am trying to install/configure Safeguard on a new server

I have installed SafeGuard Management Centre on a Windows 2012 box.

The SQL server is on another server which is running SQL 2005 and SQL 2012. Obviously i want the database to be on the 2012.

The issue i have is when i specify the SQL servername in the wizard it seems to automatically pick up the 2005 SQL and gives me an error message baout Version 9.0.3186 not supported.

How do i tell the wizard to connect to the 2012 SQL instead?

    Hi Anand,

You'll be given the option to specify the server, just use SERVERNAME\INSTANCE as the address to connect to, where instance is the 2012 version you want to connect to.

It's worth noting that SQL Server 2005 (the release version and service packs) and earlier versions of SQL Server are not supported on Windows Server 2012 R2, just incase your SQL Server 2005/2012 instances are running on a 2012 box.

If you're still having trouble I'd suggest moving your 2005 databases to the 2012 instance and uninstalling 2005, unless there's a particular reason you need a 2005 server?

  • Thank you for the help Toby

I created a new instance on the SQL 2012 and used that with the servername\instance_name and it picked up straight away :)

Totally skipped my mind to create a new instance instead of using the default :)

    Thank You
