POA won't load after updating BIOS on Lenovo W540

Hi All,

We are using Safeguard Easy (not sure what version, the only reference I have is the version of the SafeGuard Policy Editor which is 5.60.0.192).

I have to reinstall windows in some laptops (Lenovo W540) and while installing drivers, I installed the latest BIOS update. After that POA will load on the blue background and start dimming the screen after a few seconds. I have tried all the HotKeys to enable/disable hardware, but nothing works. The only way around is to the into the BIOS settings and select "load default settings", after doing that, it let me get into windows. If I reboot the laptop it gets back to POA background and have to load defaults again to make it work.

I'd appreciate any help.

Julio C.

    Hello Julio,

5.60 went out of support a few years ago so you will need to upgrade soon, especially as newer hardware, operating systems and Windows Updates will affect the functionality.

Are all your machines the same? Try comparing an updated ones BIOS settings against the BIOS settings of a machine set to default and see if you can spot what's different.

Ideally it would be best to ensure you have a backup of all your data then upgrade to SafeGuard version 7.0
  • Hi

Go to BIOS menu and select USB -> Disable UEFI bios support. After that Press F10 to save

  • Hello, here is the fix you need to do:

Go to BIOS menu with F1 on boot.

Go to Config->USB-> diusable USB UEFI support and press F10 to safe.

PC should no boot to PoA normally. If not give Shift+F6 hotkey to PoA
