Safeguard inactive key

Hi,I'm using Safeguard MC console 6.00.1.31 we have one computer that we can't unlock (Challenge\Response) is not working we can't also assign boot key in order to retireve data from hard drive. Key is in "Inactive Key" node. Is there anyway we can move this key to active keys node and assign it in order to retrieve data?

  • Hi,

a key only switches from inactive to active when it has been successfully assigned to an object.

If the machine object was deleted in teh Management Center (which would explain why a standard C/R does not work) and the key is currently not assigned to a user object (e.g. for recovery purposes), it will be listed as inactice.

If assigning the key to a user does not work, you can try to use the virtual client in combination with the "Import by C/R" function to get access to the encrypted volume(s).

This process is described in the following document (Retrieving data using Virtual Client):

    Recovery_in_SafeGuard_Device_Encryption.pdf

    Hope that helps
