Machine will not boot with Safeguard on SSD

Hi All,

I am having an issue when installing Safeguard on SSDs. The initial setup works, but upon reboot I get to the screen that reads:

Sophos Safeguard is starting.

Please wait ...

no init

press any key to reboot.

or switch off the system now.

The particular SSD I am having an issue with today is an Intel 520 240GB. I have had similar issues with other SSDs in the past, but switching the SATA mode from AHCI to IDE then letting it fail on reboot, switching SATA back to AHCI made the issue go away. Not sure why that worked but it did...

This trick is not working this time around. Any suggestions? Ideas? Anyone....

"coming pre-configured with Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 128-bit encryption capabilities".
It is not mentioned but this looks like a pre-encrypted OPAL drive. Unfortunately hard drive built-in encryption standardization is not very well developed today; we frequently find non-standard implementations of OPAL drives or non-OPAL legacy drive encryption. Many times the issue is authentication to the drive. Those drives will not work with built-in encryption, but the drive but might support SafeGuard Enterprise/Easy if the hardware encryption can be switched off. You might want to check this.
