Sophos SafeGuard 5.61 POA password not syncing.

Hello, we are running Sophos SafeGuard 5.61 and I have
a user who changed their Active Directory password and now every time  they log
on to the PC they have to enter their old password at the Sophos POA and
then they receive an incorrect password error at the windows log on. They can
then enter in their new password and log on to the desktop. We have locked and
unlocked the PC  with the new password
and we have completely shut down  and
restarted the PC  several times, but the
password at the POA will not sync up with the new active directory password.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

  • Hi MCR66,

if the user's password was reset in the Active Directory, it should be sufficient to log on once to the POA of the machine holding the old password and once booted into windows (after receiving the message regarding incorrect password) enter the new user password.

The SDE Client should automatically update the user's password in the POA. On the next boot up, the user is able to logon with the new password in the POA.

If you use Windows 7, please make sure to use the SDE Client's Credential Provider (for XP, the GINA chain should be setup correctly) so the password synchronization progress can work seamlessly.

If the process fails - despite of using the correct Credential Provider for logon - I'd recommend to logon with an additional user and use the SDE Tray Icon function "User Machine Assignments" to delete the User Machine Assignment for the out of sync user account.
