Stop copy Portable software automatically

Hi@all!

I'm running SafeGuard with Data Exchange and Device Encryption and cannot figure out how to solve the following problem:

Whenever an USB device is plugged in to a PC the Portable software is automatically copied on it. That's not very convenient because if I just want to read a stick from another person, I don't want to have the software copied on his stick. So, how can I manage it that the Portable software (and of course the key ring) is only copied when data is going out to the stick?

Requested solution:

USB data is read or copied to PC => DO NOTHING! (except encrypting on the PC)

data is copied to USB => copy software & encryt the outgoing data!

Big thanks in advance!

  • Hi Cannonfodder,

and welcome to the SophosTalk forum!

The requirement you expressed in your post is currently not configurable with the current SafeGuard Enterprise release (latest version 6.00.1), but its already planned to change the behavior with the upcoming release of SafeGuard Enterprise:

The change will look like this:

    - "copy the SGPortable standalone application to removable media and cloud storage sync folders only if encrypted content is written to the device or folder."

and should fully cover your needs, if I understood you correctly.

    Cheers,

    Chris
