Missing \Boot\Bcd is that common issue with Sophos?

Hello

Im running environment of over 1000 computers.
Every day i have atleast 1 computer that gets error missing \Boot\Bcd after PoA login.
I can fix that by starting pc with Sophos recovery WinPE disks.

But now im wondering is this behavior normal?

Almost none of the computer have bad disks it just randomly does this error after fix it works fine.

Sophos versions are 5.60 and 6.01

Laptops models are:

Thinkpad X220, X230, X240, T420, T430, T440s
HP Elitebook 820, 840

All have different models of SSD disks.

  • Hi Pashyn,

although not caused by the SafeGuard Client directly, this is an issue we regularly saw on machines encrypted with SafeGuard versions < 6.10.

The issue does no longer occur with SafeGuard Client version 6.10

For technical details and a workaround/ fix for SafeGuard Client versions < 6.10, please see Knowledge Base Article

Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) is unable to access the disk on SafeGuard Clients with Full Disk Encryption

  • We are still having this issue regularly and we have 7.00. Is it possible that if they aren't up to date with windows updates that this could still happen? i only notice it on computers that probably haven't been updated in a few months or longer.
