Ran Protect Computer, Encryption Software... everything seemed to install correctly

Currently on the client computer, the status shows "nothing received yet".

Currently on the Enterprise Console, under Policy compliance, it says awaiting policy from concole.

I have rebooted both machines (server and client). I have searched but have surprisingly found NOTHING on this "error". Event viewer shows nothing on the client.

Any other way to troubleshoot this issue?

SafeGuard 5.61.0.25

Enterpirse Console 5.2.1.197

  • Thanks for all the replies... we had to contact suport to help us through. As it turns out, even though the SOPHOS Protection install ran through and uninstalled previous protection software (in our case, Symantec) it didn't actually uninstall every part of Symantec.

Here is the reponse from the Support Team at SOPHOS that describes teh issue we had and the steps to resolve this particular issue:

The issue may be caused by the following driver still being installed and active:

eectrl Symantec Eraser Control driver \??\c:\program files (x86)\common files\symantec shared\eengine\eectrl64.sys Kernel Driver Yes System Running OK Normal No Yes

Looks like you have replaces Symantec AV with our software at some point? If that's the case and you are sure that this driver is not needed anymore please a manually remove the driver mentioned above. then Re-install the Encryption client and check if it works now.

If not please enable SGNTrace logging, reboot the system and get us the trace logs as well as a new SDU log from the client.
    TRACE LOG
    1. Open the following registry key:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Utimaco\SGMTrace]
    2. Set the "MinimumTraceLevel" to 0.
    3. Reboot the computer and recreate the issue.
(Changing the tracelevel will take effect after a reboot of the SafeGuard Enterprise client. If using the SafeGuard Enterprise Server, it will be necessary to restart the IIS server.)
    4. Once issue has been recreated, please change the MinimumTraceLevel value back to 90.

    SDU LOGS
