AD Account Name Changed

Hi All,

We changed the account name of one of our users from AD, the user logged in with the new user and the Safeguard console does not recognize the user is changed it created a new user and assigned a self-reg key.

now the user is unable to see his data because it's encrypted using his old key.

any idea?

Thanks,

  • Hi Sameer,

from your description I´d think that the key you want to assign, still has the "active personal key" flag (you can see that in the key tab of the old user object).

Personal keys (by default the name of such keys is user_username@Domain) in SGN are unique for one particular user and cannot be shared with others.

If the new user object needs access to files that were encrypted with the personal key of the old user object, the key needs to be "demoted" first. This can be done either by unticking the corresponding box in the old users key tab or by right clicking the key -> "Demote Personal Key".

After that, the key will be found when you try to assign it to the new user object.

    Hope that helps
