Safeguard Encryption Version in Complete Security Suite SEC managed

I just set up the latest Endpoint Complete Security Suite at my office and found that the drive encryption is only version 5.61 rather  than the current 6.x.

Is there a reason for this or am I missing something?

Most our laptops are windows 8 and 8.1 wich is apparently is not supported in 5.61.

Can anyone please adivise on the reason for the older version ( I assume that it might have to do with the bundle price of the complete securty) or when it will be updated to support windows 8.

Thanks

  • Hello BradC,

it might have to do with the bundle price

I'm not Sophos - eventually it boils down to "price" as it has to be fitted into the SEC environment  (not "only" the management component but also the installer). But the main reason is that Windows 8 will only be supported from SafeGuard 6.10 on and 6.10 is not yet out (AFAIK it is scheduled for Q1 2014).
