Safeguard Management Center 5.60 and Windows 8

Hi All,

I am fairly new to Sophos Safeguard and am hoping someone could offer me some help.

We are currently running a Sophos Management Center 5.6.0 enviroment with SGN 5.6.0 clients. We are going to start introducing Windows 8 into our enviroment.

From the little research I have done, I believe that SGN version 6.0 is required to support Windows 8. Does this mean I need to upgrade my management center to support version 6 or can I have version 6 clients reporting into my current management center.

If an upgrade is required, will this require all of my clients to be upgraded or can they still run at 5.6.0.

Any help you could offer would be much appreciated.

  • Hi davidjerwood,

Windows 8 will be supported as of SafeGuard Enterprise version 6.10 which is scheduled for Q4 2013.

You would need to upgrade at least your SafeGuard Enterprise Server, Database and Management Center machines to version 6.10 to support the encryption of new Windows 8 Clients. Existing 5.60.1 clients can remain on version 5.60.1 and still communicate with the 6.10 server.

    Regards,

    Chris
