Problem with USB ports with Safeguard Enterprise 5.40.0.152

My company uses Safeguard Enterprise 5.40.0.152 and my Lenovo T400 laptop.  If I connect a USB keyboard or mouse, it works when I login to the initial Ssafeguard screen.  I am able to enter my login information.  After it finishes processing I can not use any of my USB ports and my keyboard and mouse do not work.

  • Hi ALUguy,

sounds strange as the devices work within the pre-boot authentication but not under widows. Do you use Configuration Protection within your company environment and prohibit the use of USB ports?

  • Do you use Configuration Protection?

If so perhaps its the 'Hardware Key Loggers' option under the 'Device Control' section?

We've since this before on a strange keyboard set-up but never a mouse.

    Worth a look maybe?

  • Just another thought - perhaps you have an NEC USB hub in the Lenovo? see this thread: /search?q= 17993

If it is this then there is a custom XML available from Sophos support which you'll need to deploy to the laptop/s, but we warned - it means a bit of scripting to push out the custom XML, install it, reboot, and force update the client configs. Of course you can also do it manually. :)

If you don't use Configuration Protection then you can safely ignore this post, and my last one ;)

If it definately is this problem, then post back on this thread and I'll send you some basic scripts to automate it all.
