Notifications and Explorer objects not being show

Hi All,

I´m a new SafeGuard user, so sorry if i don´t include all necessary info. :smileyhappy:

I´m testing version 6.00.1.31 on two Windows 7 64 bit computers (using a Win2003 on the SafeGuard Managemnet Center), and i´m noticing on weird issue on one of the Win7 machines.

I´m doing the test as a managed environment using a AD.

I´have installed all modules (except for the configuration protection module), and i´m testing the fileshare encryption.

Despite that i can successfully apply encryption to a selected file share, i´m not able to:

1. See the Windows Key Symbol associated to that share (despite i´ve configured a "Specific Machine Setting" where the option "Show overlay icons in Explorer" is enabled.

2. I also cannot see the notifications ballon each time that there is a update on the configuration.3

The encryption, though is working fine (when i creat a new file on the file share, that file is encrypted autiomatically). Also, the "Last Server Contact" is accurate.

On regards ballon notifications, i´ve configured the windows 7 configured to "Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar".

This is only happenning in one of the client machines. The other win7 computer is working as is should (the policy is the same that is applied to both machines).

Can you please help me to figure how to troubleshoot this?

Regards,

Rui

  • HI Rui,

    and welcome to the community!

Regarding the overlay icon issue, I'd recommend to check the following KBA: http://www.sophos.com/en-us/support/knowledgebase/108784.aspx

  • Hi Chris,

You suggestion worked like a charm :).

    Thank you !

However, i still do not have the notifications popup on the SafeGuard icon each time there is an update.

Do you have any more suggestions ?

    UPDATE:***********************************************************************************

I was able to resolve this problem, by changing the value of the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

    EnableBalloonTips = 1

For some reason, i´had the value set to 0. After changing the value and a reboot, all my notifications are there :)
