Safeguard on downgraded Windows 8 EFI platform

Safeguard is documented to start supporting Windows 8/UEFI Q2 of 2013. I've been told by our rep that's been now moved to Q3. Has anyone tried installing Safeguard Enterprise onto a Windows 8 laptop that's been downgraded to Windows 7? Could the disks remain GPT, or would they have to get reformatted to MBR and BIOS mode changed to Legacy?

I'm going to attempt this on a Lenovo Twist, and will let you know of the results.

Thanks,

Tim

  • Hi Tim,

Volume-based encryption for boot volumes that are located on Dynamic disks and on GUID partition table disks (GPT), are not supported. If GPT disks are found on the endpoint the setup process will fail with a reference to the GPT disk.

Encrypting non-boot volumes that are have a GUID partition table is not a problem.

You should also make sure that your UEFI is running in compatibility / BIOS mode.

    Regards,

    Chris
