Has anyone figured out how to better manage the impact of password changes in a mixed environment of SGN clients and non-SGN clients?
We are a healthcare organization that has many users that move around from thin clients to traditional desktops to laptops - some of which are SGN clients and some not. Whenever the user's password changes (pw expired, reset by Help Desk, etc.) this causes annoyances for the user and headaches for admins; not to mention effectively breaking removable media encryption (i.e. Data Exchange). It is unreasonable and impractical to ask our users to always ensure they are on an SGN client when their password changes.
When prompted by SafeGuard to enter their old password the user can simply click Cancel and proceed to be logged into Windows, but their Key Ring is no longer available.
Our work-around thus far is to delete the user's certificate in the SafeGuard Management Center -> have the user Synchronize the client -> logoff the client -> log back on. Sometimes an additional logoff/logon seems to be required in order to restore the user's Key Ring.
To put it kindly - this behavior & process is less than optimal. Simple password changes should not be this cumbersome. Any advice (or at least empathy) would be greatly appreciated.
