USB Drive Encryption not working

We have Sophos Safeguard 7.0 installed and full drive encryption of our Windows 8.1 workstations is working fine

We want to be encrypt any files written to USB sticks on some Windows 7.1 Pro workstations

We have 100 Data Exchange Licenses.

I have installed the client on the Windows 7 pro workstations and they are visible in the Enterprise Console

I have created a policy to encrypt removable media with file based encryption, the policy is picked up by the clients

But when a file is copied onto a usb stick nothing happens

  • Hi PaulWebb,

Did you install the data exchange module when installing Safeguard? It doesn't automatically install if you select "Typical" installation. You will need to go to the control panel, programs/features, select the Safeguard Client, Click change, then select the Data exchange module, then select next, and it will install the module. Once installed, restart, and the policies should be applied to the USB stick.

Thanks for your reply, that was indeed the issue, we had done a typical install.
