SafeGuard Enterprise 6.00.1 Corrupted Database? - Upgrade to 7

I attempted to upgrade a 32-bit SGN 6.00.1 server to 7.x BEFORE realizing SGN 7 requires a 64Bit OS.  Long story short the workstations will no longer communicate with the SGN server.  I tried to restore the SafeGuard database (windows 2008 Server with SQLExpress 2008.  It appeared to restore OK but the workstations will not communicate with it.

My question is if I erase and rebuild the SGN7 server using a 64bit OS etc (new install) will the currently encrypted workstations still be totally functional until I can remove the encryption from them and reinstall the client for SGN7 after the server is configured?

Thank you,

Jim R

  • In addition to the other stupid things I did on this server is I did not restart the default web site in the IIS Manager. Once I started that the communications resumed. Next steps will be to figure out how to migrate the existing clients to a SGN7 server.
