SGPortable removal from external hard drive

Hello,
SGPortable* files and autorun have been pushed to my personal external drive from my work laptop.
Nothing seems to have been encrypted yet, and no pass phrase set up, but access to unencrypted files/hard drive in general already deteriorated significantly.
Would a simple deletion of the pushed files  remove all SGP functionality (including the icon) from the external or I still need to reformat the drive?
the drive has already lots of data on it so migrating the data out for the reformatting would be quite painful.

    You should never just delete SGPortable. If you do and there are any encrypted files on the drive, they won't be accessible until that drive is plugged back into a SafeGuard machine with the correct key.

    Check to make sure that the files aren't encrypted. Open SGPortable and look at the key colours on the files.
    Try opening the files on a machine without SafeGuard on it.

    Do you have a backup of this data?
